The bunnies got their new hutch yesterday, we only had to go to Petsmart but ended up passing through Old Navy, Staples, Trader Joe’s, All American & Starbucks along the way… basically I got malled in LA again, hey ho, we made amends today by going to a genuine (open since 1937- California prehistory) Farmers Market and feasting on Greek fancy food then on to La Brea tar pits where many a dinosaur met its end. I was expecting it to be more like in Sin City so was a little disappointed, but there was lots to see and it was nicely laid out and all.
After all the cultural fun, we headed for Venice Beach, Santa Monica, various pubs, to see Mr & Mrs Smith (AVOID… 2 lulus, tops) then, at Sita’s request, Hooters for a meal. Photos were taken and will doubtless follow soon. We’re fine tuning our travel plans and budgetary possibilies for this summer, the Massachusetts part is looking a little shaky right now… more on that as we thrash it all out though. Time for bed methinks…
And I bet it’s the .4444444° that makes all the difference… Luckily there’s an air-conditioned cinema nearby so we’ve been watching all kinds of nonsense. Pineapple Express, has its moments but is still nowhere near as good as Knocked Up. Tropic Thunder last night cracked me up a fair few times. Mark Kermode says if a comedy makes you laugh five times or more, it’s a success and thus it definitely qualifies and is worth watching for the panda scene alone. Hellboy II is an option for this afternoon…
There are all kinds of small, independant cinemas dotted around Portland, our nearest however was showing Mamma Mia for 3 weeks and has now moved on to The Sisterhood of the Traveling (sic) Pants II, so we’ll have to go a little further afield.
We also found a Fred Meyer down the road, a huge, air-conditioned superstore stocking everything from cider to sweetcorn holders to trees. If they let you take your dog in it would be perfect. As it is ‘Cus and me just head down to the park at the bottom of the street, stick to the shade and paddle in the river. Even the basement’s starting to heat up. Righty, I’m off to shut the windows and blinds. We’re adopting Andalucian living habits. Siestas included. Hasta pronto…

Can any French speakers out there remind me if copine means girlfriend or friend who’s a girl. That’s been worrying me too… I was going for the latter, obviously, in my comment response in the last post. Back when I still spoke French I think the slang du jour was “julie”… Now there’s another good Levellers song…
