Sita’s holding her own in an increasingly heated discussion on house ownership and annual salaries and I’m going to finish off the packing. This will probably be the last post for a while as I’m packing up the laptop along with everything else. Wish us luck and hopefully the next post will be from Guadalajara, Mexico querido y lindo. Puff and Merlin’s mum came to collect them. Sita is vaguely threatening acquiring our own guineau pig, but i’ll do my utmost to avoid that one coming to pass.
In other news, I had my second interview today for the project manager position, but I won’t find out till early next week what the outcome is. This is the space to watch for news… We organised a social event for the PAPAS families last night, click that link to have a look at the pictures (only broadband for now, dial-up version coming soon…). I still faintly smell of burger fumes from barbecuing a hundred or so. 
Off to celebrate (co-worker & friend) Judith & Carlos’ pre-wedding at Bittersweet Cafe tonight, tis quite a posh place so i’ll let you know if they let me in or not.
Me mum’s talking about a visit to Santa Cruz in November, which is rainy but has plenty of whale watching opportunities and that, and to meet the grand-rabbits, is the main objective. Looking forward to that, like.
That’ll be all for now, hoping to see a film or two this weekend, and I’ve still got to review House of the Spirit Levels properly before it fades from memory, so that may be it fow a few days.
And Ms.Manatee, if you’re reading this, i hope the lack of activity in your blog over the past few days is because of too much fun, or cakes, and not hurricane related. Alrighty, cheers for now, all the best,

A couple of weeks ago I got thoroughly fed up with WalMart, it’s the nearest supermarket to our house and Guadalajara’s only supplier of Portabella Mushrooms (casi regaladas). It was over a special offer on Heineken, but I digress. Anyroad, I’ve been boicotting it for 2 wks, but I just saw this on cartalk.com’s site and think I’m going to change my tactics….
The following letter was sent to a long-time patron of a local Target store. After receiving this letter, she vowed that she would NEVER take her husband shopping with her again!

Re: Mr. Bill Fenton
Multiple ComplaintsDear Mrs. Fenton,
Over the past six months, your husband, Mr. Bill Fenton has been causing quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this type of behavior and have considered banning the entire family from shopping in any of our stores. We have documented all incidents on our video surveillance equipment.
Three of our clerks are attending counseling from the trouble your husband has caused. All complaints against Mr. Fenton have been compiled and are listed below.
15 Things Mr. Bill Fenton has done while his spouse is shopping:
1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people’s carts when they weren’t looking.
2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.
3. July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the restrooms.
4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official tone, ‘Code 3’ in housewares….. and watched what happened.
5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and asked to put a bag of M&M’s on layaway.
6. September 14: Moved a ‘CAUTION – WET FLOOR’ sign to a carpeted area.
7. September 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told other shoppers he’d invite them in if they’ll bring pillows from the bedding department.
8. September 23: When a clerk asks if they can help him, he begins to cry and asks Why can’t you people just leave me alone?’
9. October 4: Looked right into the security camera; used it as a mirror, and picked his nose.
10. November 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, asked the clerk if he knows where the antidepressants are.
11. December 3: Darted around the store suspiciously loudly humming the “Mission Impossible” theme.
12. December 6: In the auto department, practiced his “Madonna look” using different size funnels.
13. December 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browse through, yelled “PICK ME!” “PICK ME!”
14. December 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumes the fetal position and screams “NO! NO! It’s those voices again!!!!”
(And; last, but not least!) 15. December 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door and waited a while; then, yelled, very loudly, “There is no toilet paper in here!”

Other news: Just removed Larsen B ice shelf from our fridgefreezer and what with the drizzle and half a metric ton of ice in the front garden, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Yesterday we had an open house to try and find renters to take over our Alameda digs. About 15 couples passed through here and 10 of them left application forms so I’ve passed them on to the landlord and hopefully he won’t take long to choose one of them to take over the place come August.
Doctorcita took Atticus on a 3 hour walk in 95 degree heat (35ish celsius) while I was showing people around so that he wouldn’t try to strike up lasting friendships with any of the applicants. Atticus has also now been through a drive through car wash. I wanted to be there for that, but didn’t get to see it. You park in the middle of the machine while all kinds of jets and foam and detergents get blasted at you, everything goes dark… then after 8-10 minutes of craziness industrial dryers blast you with hot air and you’re good to go. Apparently as the first jet started Atticus jumped onto Sita’s lap and stayed there for the duration… Anyroad, all in all a very successful day.

The sunset was spectacular yesterday, it gave a gorgeous golden light and I took advantage and headed out with me camera. Here’re some of them on Flickr. I like the ones with the seagulls… If there’d been a few more clouds to the west it’d’ve been even better. Maybe this evening.
This week I’ve a few projects on still and there’s another visit to Santa Cruz, then some time next week we’re going to go house hunting in Portland. Anyone want to look after an American Eskimo/ Schipperke mutt for a few days?
