Argh, we knew it was all too easy. Our mate can’t get his hands on some vital documents he’d need to co-sign with us. Well that’s his story, and I, for one, believe him. So we’re negotiating away with the land lords and waiting for other potential co-signers to call us back. While we’re waiting, I’ve penned a review of Jonathon Strange and Co. Click here to go to the patented GwynUnlimited book review page, where everything I read is all about me.
Looks like autumn’s here. It’s been raining for nigh on 24hrs, I’m trying not to see it as an omen for my dental appointment. My first blog entry must have been 6 months ago, since that was the last time I had my teeth cleaned (by someone else…). So it’s an anniversary of sorts…
Sita’s off to San Jose tonight to see her mates from her undergraduate days at UCSC, so as long as there’s electricity I’ll be at home watching Family Guy or some such.
It was nice to see the Swedes have returned to this page, doubtless eager for more news on my teeth. Well, you’ll be happy to hear that i have another incipient filling and there’ll be more crown fun come February…
Me Mum mentioned about an item in the Guardian where well-intentioned Brits are writing to voters in a swing county in Ohio to get them to vote Bush out, the replies from the state range from offensive to downright obstreperous, have a butcher’s here of the Guardian article entitled Dear limey assholes.
and this weekend we bought tickets to see Courtney Love playing in the Catalyst in Santa Cruz next week. Probably read about it here…
…and it looks like it’s going to be just the right weather for it, 97 degrees and scattered thunderstorms.
Normally I’d warn you that I’ll not be blogging much, but given recent posting rates you’ll probably not notice anything amiss.
Took the car for a checkup today. Should be ready any minute along with the bill for 360 bucks. Deciding whether to drive there or fly involved some complex maths with factors such as mileage, price per gallon, car rental, flights and schipperke boarding costs. We’re driving, staying with Sudarat and ‘Cus is coming with us, for the record. Email’ll be checked occasionally. See you in another ZIP code…
This map (created by a generator thing) show all the countries I’ve passed through. Sita’s would probably have a lot more red. I passed up the chance to go with her to Morocco one weekend, Italy another. And I never went to Portugal that time because I had to work… Still it’s quality, not quantity, no?
Today we’re off to Tequila again, their festival finishes tomorrow. I want to be here in Gwod tomorrow because it’s The Virgin of Guadalupe’s saint day and there are various processions and other photo ops going on. Also it’s Sally and Martin’s 35th wedding anniversary- Many congratulations and best wishes. Traditionally coral or jade, apparently.
And here’s the US states I’ve been to: Basically, Massachusetts and California and everywhere in between. Also if the American Sociological Association held an annual conference in a state in the last 5 years, that’ll be there too. Now all that remains is a map of Somerset where you select the postcodes you’ve been to and it tells you what percentage remains to be seen. Minus Bridgwater. And maybe Chard. I’m not sure about North Petherton neither, last time I passed through someone had scrawled Royston Vasey over the name of the place on the ‘welcome and please drive slowly’ sign.
And while I’m here, there’s some new photos from Friday on Flickr that include the world’s biggest coffee, autostitched terracing, dancing (not me, obviously), and what is currently the only picture on Flickr tagged “Otorrinolaringologos”. Echate un vistazo aqui, guey
