DANGER- High Voltage

When I used to play ‘I spy’ as a (v. young) lad on long motorway journeys, I’d always say HVOEW for High Voltage Overhead Electricity Wires every time. Which, looking back, didn’t bode too well for my social development. Still I live to tell the tale…

Our brains are programmed to look for patterns, and a large part of our brain deals specifically with faces, expressions and body language. Being able to visually decipher what another human is up to brings all kinds of social advantages in the natural selection game. Pylons blatently have personalities if you stare at them long enough.

They also remind me of etch-a-sketch drawings, with all their vectors. I reckon a suitably challenging project for a first year computer studies student stuck for ideas would be a program that added pylons to any landscape you uploaded. You could use fractals and other equations, & wouldn’t be too hard. Surely. Of prerry limited usefulness, I’d agree, but still…
