Dig, Atticus, dig!

If you’ve ever wondered, as I have, what would happen if we let Atticus keep digging and didn’t try and didn’t dissuade him with a blast from the hose pipe? This site has the answer. If he was in Guadalajara (which looks increasingly unlikely given his ability to charm his ‘grandparents’ in Downey, CA) he’d end up flooding the garden when he reached the middle of the Indian Ocean. Jed would end up just off the coast of New Zealand so Stu’n’Anne could look after him for a bit- they’ve just arrived there and already bought some wheels. Don’t know what it is about Taunton that makes people want to travel as far away as humanly possible from it…

Friday’s trip to SCruz went great, lovely to see our sociologist/non-sociologist friends again in what might be one of our last visits (except in we’re going again in half an hour and there for graduation on Friday…). I didn’t sleep so wonderfully due to a heady mixture of garlic bread and a sweltering hotel room, so I got up at 5am and managed to catch the sunrise and greet the sealions dozing by the pier.

Here’s the set of all the pix and if you hover your mouse over the picture above, you’ll see the picture Elias’s watercolour is based on (painted in less than 90 minutes if my calculations are correct). He’s the artist behind the butterfly a while ago. One of these days I’m going to have a go at this watercolour thing and if I’m only a fraction as good as Elias I’ll be very happy.

Our good friend, Ana, gave us a molcajete t’other day. It’s a volcanic rock pestle and mortar type thing crucial to Mexican cuisine. We christened it yesterday when Berta came round to make salsa and go over Sita’s talk for today. The next stage is experimenting with different chiles…
