Homesick

I’ve got a fair few projects on at the minute, so the blog’s on the back burner for a bit as it were… In the meantime, consider this a chance to explore the site, there’s the gallery, our rabbits, our dog, and the immediate family. Oh and book and film reviews. Some of those pages were even updated within the last year. Off you go now, Ah, go on, go on, go on…

I’ve stopped writing my blog in the mornings and end up writing fairly disjointed missives these days. Apologies. Sometime soon I’ll get back into the swing of things.

First off, check out M & D’s blog. They’re at the beach and if what Monica writes is to be believed, Daniel’s working hard and spouting folk wisdom about sea creatures and Monica’s postponing swimming with dolphins.

Meanwhile in Gwod, we had coffee with Ana and I gave her her computer back and set it up then we went to Tequila for some more interviewing of local bureaucrats. As per usual I had a wander and the resulting photos are shown below. Then in the afternoon, a siesta, Baskin Robbins, oil change and then PHP class. Then the wind blew Sita’s office door shut and locked it and I had a good 30 minutes of trying to open it again so she could get to her computer… A variation on sliding a credit card worked…

That’s all for now. I’m a tad tired and tomorrow’s a big day with Sally and Martin’s arrival. Hasta pronto!

Alcoholics Anonymous Tequila

Rumsfeld out and a Democrat majority in the House of Representatives. Still doesn’t fill me with hope for a brighter future but it’s a step in the right direction. Here’s Steven Colbert’s take on it.

The moving van comes tomorrow, everything’s pretty much packed. As long as it doesn’t rain I reckon it’ll be fairly straightforward. Took a break from the boxing to see what the annual Berkeley Marina Kitefest is all about. Kites mainly. Took a few pix, but it wasn’t the best weather for pix. Good weather for kites in fact.

I wish this thing would go faster.

I can’t stand to watch, but shall have to. It’s a worrying start (4.50pm Pacific)

We bought it yesterday from CostCo and after one cursory listen can make the shocking revelation that if you like Coldplay, you’ll like this album. It’s more varied than previous efforts and has more electronica bubbling in the background. There’s more prominent guitars, more confident delivery and they don’t have Gwyneth singing back-up vocals, so they’re doing something right.
I was none too pleased when Radiohead stopped doing campfire sing-alongs about plastic watering cans and self-loathing and hit the ‘noodle’ button on their synthesisers instead for 3 albums. So fair play to Chris and his mates for keeping to what works (and people obviously like) with minimal changes.
