Well while Sita tried to meet up with Dr. Muria (famous tequila historian) I gave my CV to the Museo de Arte de Zapopan to see if they needed anyone with my particular skill set. I won’t hear from them for 2 weeks apparently. Anyroad, spent a nice afternoon in Zapopan and went on to Zapopum, the expo/art showcase thing down the road from there. The highlight was the trained dog show- it was being televised for a local TV station and we were encouraged to look as enthusiastic as possible for the cameras. I wasn’t really getting into it until it all started going wrong as the dogs got collective stage fright. “They were all fine this morning” we were assured. Still we saw a corgi jumping through flaming hoops and I’m full of ideas to try out on Atticus when we get back to the US in the Spring for a few days.

It’s nothing too formal and none of us know each other outside of Flickr commentaries and the occasional Flickrmail.

Anyroad, got to go. The home made pizza’s burning. Pizzas No’tardamos aren’t open on Wednesdays…

In about 9 minutes, I’m being interviewed on a local radio station about PAPAS. My nerves are starting to go… I’ll blog whether I survived the experience later. Let the record show that 5-6 pm on a Friday afternoon is not my optimum mental functioning time. Hope the coffee kicks in…

Update: Saturday 10:30am
The coffee indeed kicked in and I found myself able to answer questions pretty completely on all kinds on father involvement topics. No one was around in the office, so I could pace around with the cordless phone as is my wont. All in all it took about 15 minutes and I remembered to give out the phone number and website. That said, the website hasn’t registered any more hits and I tried to find 1040am on my radio all the way home and couldn’t get anything on the car radio, which is a little odd. I’m fairly sure it’s not some elaborate practical joke and KNRY– Your Town has listeners somewhere… But still, you live and learn and the tangible sense of relief as I hung up lasted most of the rest of the evening…

Just checked the KNRY website- I had the wrong frequency by 200Khz. D’oh. Ah well…

Scott and Tanya came round after and we cooked several veggie dishes of varying quality and then played one of my worst games of Scrabble in living memory. My average score, 8, my average rack of letters, IIIIOOU.

Phoned me grandmothers this morning and they’re doing OK. Neither is enjoying the dark evenings and grotty weather, but Nanny was relieved that no one had come round trick or treating or penny for the guying. There are too many leaves falling though, apparently. Bless’em. Beth’n’ali weren’t about, and me mum’s in cardiff living it up with her friends from her Swansea school days.

Just to follow 10 days of a common cold and a bang on the head on Sunday, last night I experienced one of the worst gastrointestinal traumas I’ve ever had. Truly, truly grim. I’ve been on the Pedialyte (fruit flavoured electrolyte and water concoction) all day and been trying to catch up on sleep, but it was a real shock to the system. The only thing I ate yesterday was tacos from a popular local stand that I trust implicitly, but I’ll not be going back for a while.

I didn’t feel up to working today so I finished season 1 of Arrested Development and watched Nacho Libre properly in between naps. I think I’ll be up all night finishing some fairly urgent projects tonight though…

Other stuff accomplished: I booked me flights to Blighty for December. I was feeling right homesick today, not just for friends and family, but real bread, Ribena/ Robinson’s Black Currant and Apple Juice and the NHS… I also made a fair dent in Neil Gaiman’s ‘Anansi Boys’ between crawling to the bathroom and back a hundred times. Looks like our Morrissey tickets have been purchased for November and also a plan is forming to see Julieta Venegas next week or the week after. Good times…

So I can play my “favourite” game of trying to find a decent program to watch before I finish my sandwich…

Having a grand old time of it with Monica and Sunny D. Events so far have included house-hunting, a couple of parties, Colomnos park, markets, dinner parties, computer repairs, and DVDs aplenty (see Film Reviews).

I’m trying to fall back into some kind of routine which should include more regular blogging, but what with 3am cockroach scares and stuff things are still settling down.

Mexican Spanish word of the week: Tope – A road bump/ sleeping policeman thing. Ubiquitous in this particular part of North America. In Spain they’re Guardias tumbados I think, or sleeping (Civil) Guards

I finally managed a new minor film review (in the sidebar if you’re using a decent browser), and I’m trying to get back into my blogging groove, but I’ve got a fair bit of “chamba” on at the minute- translating movie scripts, site updates and getting my head around a WordPress e-commerce site.

This is also a test post to see if I can get a LightBox plug in going. Sorry if it screws up the RSS feed as I might need to keep editing this entry.
