In every one of the “Top 10 things you shouldn’t do with your blog” type posts you see, number 2 is usually “stop updating regularly” or “start a post with ‘sorry I haven’t blogged in a while”… Anyroad, that said…
Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while. Service might return to normal on Thursday. Tengo un chingo de chamba.
They turned out nice I reckon. As did everything else. We could have fed a small army and their horses but we still made a fair dent in the supplies. And had cake for afters too.
Then we watched “What’s Cooking” (2000) set in the ‘burbs of LA about several families of various ethnic backgrounds and the family drama that unfolds on your average thanksgiving. I’ve seen worse films on a full stomach and at least it was seasonal.
Another lovely day… met up with Ian, Adri and Larisa this morning in Cafe D’Val for chilaquiles and coffee. They’re all doing fine minus having their car impounded for inscrutable Mexican bureaucratic reasons… We’ve arranged an all-dayer for next Wednesday starting in La Fuente so catching up should continue then… They won’t be able to make it to tomorrow’s celebrations with Mum and Saturday’s official “Meet/ Rekindle Your Relationship with the Parents” BBQ, but there’s quite a few people coming so never mind. Anyroad, I left mum and dad to fend for themselves in the city centre and by the looks of dad’s photos they saw a lot and got around v. well in the afternoon heat.
That’s all for now. Have some photos of Dad and Sita frolicking with dolphins in Xel-Ha water park in the Yucatan…
And while we’re on the subject have a pun via b3ta.
Mum says it was fine to celebrate last night since I was born at 2am ish and we’re 6 hours behind GMT. Happy birthday to Keith Chegwin, James Earl Jones and Susanna Hoffs out of the Bangles, if they’re reading too…
As per usual, Monica’s beaten me to this post, but I’ll try and compete all the same… It’s getting harder to do now she has a new camera and is getting the hang of Picasa…
The last time I went to the Mercado de Abastos (wholesale food market) it was closed down for the day what with it being Good Friday and all that and I’ve been meaning to go back for ages, so today, on a whim I said, “Once you finish that game of Pacman, Monica, let’s go on a mini phototour”… So 65000 points or so later we headed off and the first thing I saw was another carro cameleon…
The majority of the market is burly Mexicans chucking fruit around from lorry to stall but they were well friendly, posing for photos and suchlike. Then there’s a covered part where we stocked up on spuds, bananas, mangos, strawbs and a lone pitaya (“Dragonfruit” which I couldn’t bring myself to eat as it looks like a tightly packed ball of coloured maggots and seeds wrapped in a spiny skin…) The heat got too much after a while and we withdrew to the house and made smoothies for everyone (except Atticus, who just got ice chucked in his water bowl). Anyroad, here come the photos:
