Blimey, me blog’s pagerank’s just gone up a notch to 5/10… search for ‘Gwyn’ on google and I’m result number 4. Take that gwynfisher.com, my namesake in New England… You might have got the domain name before I did, but I outstrip you in the SEO stakes. To celebrate, here’s a photo of the church in me little village in Zummerzet…
Am quite tired indeed, hence the lack of imagination going into this month’s poll. Let’s see if we can have a record turn out and break the previous total 5 (five) voters… well, 4 if you don’t count me…
I had another job interview yesterday for a really cool little design company. I’d be a glorified office assistant and have the chance to learn the ropes of documentary making/ sound editing. It would be full time. Anyroad, if I get it I’d start of Jan 3rd full time. So fingers crossed for that one. And talking of audio editing here’s the latest 2350k MP3 of me playing Here Comes the Sun. I don’t have a capo with me so I recorded it played at the neck of the guitar then whacked it up 7 semitones with Audacity. There’s actually 4 tracks on there, the chords, the melody, another melody bit and a whistled acompaniment that, if I got it right, only dogs can hear.
Ed, if you’re out there, give us a ring/email with details on when (if) you’re getting here. Thanks like.
Erm what else? My up-to-now wonderful laptop cut out this morning. It had overheated, so it’s now propped up on stilts made of mini post it notes. I hope that sorts it out. I think it’s too much scrabble or maybe skype. Probably time to back up a few files… And the photo by this entry is a pic of the photos by my computer, the rest are on the fridge. Kodak gave me $9.99 commision since various people signed up and bought photos of Meg and Matt’s wedding. So I spent it printing photos of family and friends. They arrived the same day as the (extortionate) phone/internet bill which softened the blow a bit.
It’s been a busy few days, what with dining out in Providencia, Scrabble, Bar Scratch, Zapopan and a fair amount of webdesignery (San Diego Furniture, a bilingual Belgian shopping centre, that Ultrasound thing I mentioned, and updates to a site I did last year for a waterjet cutting company. Photography of a shampoo box too. And also, possible PHPery for a new Mexican design company on the horizon, something to do with virtual wedding present lists…
Today I think I’m going to be stuck at the computer right through till I pick up young Sita from the airport. Which is fine and mean I can catch up on me facebook scrabbling too. Might nip out for tacos though…
“I gave Klem 10 and Lulu 1. Frankly, Lulu displays an enervating dreariness and a palpable lack of vim that makes one feel ashamed to even bring to mind the aspirations of rabbithood. Klem, however, instills in one a sense of lofty fluffiness and self-effacing coyness that cheers as well as comforts for its close to complete achievement of the lapinnic ideal. well done klem”
I’m doing my latest online poll on my telly habits and I get to tell them what I think about US TV. Eventually I get a 10 bucks Target voucher or summink. Here’s some highlights, starting with 60 minutes, dire US pseudonews:
Please indicate what you don’t like about 60 Minutes:
Its patronising presenters. Its dated look. Its holier than thou themes. And for the love of all things holy, the segment at the end, Curmudgeon’s Corner or whatever it’s called with Andy Rooney waxing geriatric on topics he knows nothing about. God I hate this program. Please indicate what you don’t like about Extreme Makeover: Home Edition:
Can’t help feeling emotionally manipulated by it. Also throughout, there’s the nagging feeling that it’s just one big advertising-fest for companies providing the materials. And the presenter gets on my nerves no end. At the end of the episode I feel somehow tainted.
Glad to report that Merlin the rabbit is starting to show signs of a nascent personality. If it wasn’t for him hopping around, I probably wouldn’t have watched “13 going on 30” in its entirety last night. Photos definitely coming soon… of the rabbit and guineau pig that is. Sita and I are off to a pub quiz in 99 bottles of beer. The team’s going to be a bit depleted but we’ll do our best without the sports and natural history experts. We came second a fortnight ago, thanks in large part to the British bias of the questions (It’s called “A Brit of Trivia” and is run by a bloke from Bolton in the North of England). Knowing the only poisonous snake in the British Isles (the adder) helped no end. Also Sita has an encyclopaedic knowledge of dodgy 80s US sitcom themes. “perfect strangers” anyone? Standing tall… Anyroad, I’ll blog how we did in the quiz. Up for grabs are 10 pints or an “entree”. The usual winning team is called “The Wankers” and we have suspicians they’re a bunch of treacherous, cheating gits.
