There’s been a fair old hiatus on the film review front so what better time to start from scratch as I reckon I’ll be spending a goodly few hours a week round the local cinepolis. Old mini reviews have been banished to this page. And the new ones will pop up in the Iframe on the right as per normal. Just got back from watching Miami Vice, I was hoping to see Nacho Libre but there was only the dubbed version available. Anyroad, not bad at all once you get over Colin Farrell being in every shot.
Book and music reviews never really did take off so there’ll probably be no more of them. Feel free to ask me what I’m listening to or reading at any point if the comments are slow on an entry. Anybody out there have any recommendations for music? There was a rumour the Russians were going to stop supplying cheap MP3s some time soon and I’m up for using up my credit…
Lots on at work. A good thing and no mistake. This morning I did a photoshoot round the kindergarten. There’s some lovely pix but I’m hesitant to post any to flickr without a release form, so here I’ve protected their little identities with a subtle photoshop effect:
Fellow Flickrite Mario has a blog (usually in Spanish) and he posted a Divine Comedy song to accompany a piece about his folks which led me on to browsing more of Neil Hannon´s YouTube output…
This song, Something for the Weekend reminds me of listening to Radio 1 while working for Four Winds Landscape gardening for minimum wage many summers ago in 1996…
Dodgy´s Good Enough is another one. And Boo Radleys´ Wake Up Boo though it was released a year earlier… Ah the UK in the 90s… good times…
I’ve been faffing about trying to get a video to show up in cinescopio’s webpage. It’s the demo for the company. Here’s the dilemma: you need quicktime 7 installed which is a pain to download (cos they try to foist iTunes on you too), but it’s much better quality. I thought about using Flash but you still need the latest version to get decent video. There’s always the .AVI option with wide compatibility but crappy compression. My question, por favor, is when you click on this link and wait 30 seconds or so, are you presented with a state-of-the-art company demo, or just a bunch of error messages. Many many thanks in advance.
…sounds a lot like Lilly Allen, but that´s not necessarily a bad thing:
and it’s mainly for the chorus: “Vamos a aclarar el panorama, hay pinguinos en la cama…” and the rest of the rhyming-dictionary-3rd-rate-singer-songwriting…
Just for the record: Fantastic meal in La Matera again with Victor, Jana and family last night. Picked up Sita’s fancy new business cards. Tidied the house a bit and now I’m off for web designery… ooh and I’m at 1070 at the scrabble. 4 off my all time best. This can’t last… More meaningful posts soonish. Cheers : )
