Back to work after a good few days seeing the sights of Guanajuato with Monica and Daniel. Click on either photo below to be magically transported to Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende. Might manage a post or two on Friday… agaveweb.com/kevin and the spectacles site’s what I’m up to for now…
Sita’s area of research for her PhD is the commodification of identity or the identity of commodification or some such, it all goes over my head really, anyroad, basically she’s studying tequila and its image. So this limited edition bottle we picked up yesterday from Shopper’s Corner should be worth a paragraph or two.
More DVDs arrived yesterday- Spaced Collector’s Edition and Nick Frost’s Danger 50,000 Volts. Great to watch Spaced again, but not as good as watching them round bethan’n’ali’s. Maybe it was the company, maybe the jaffa cakes, maybe the stella artois, or maybe all three. ‘Adam and Joe Go Tokyo’ was grand, they’re looking old though. Found some of their songs from the Adam and Joe Show here. My favourites’re the Robert DeNiro calypso, it’s been going round my head since I heard it again and the Bob Hoskins ‘How’s yer father, have a banana, etc.’ one. Enjoy!
I’ve been looking around some Massachusetts blogs and it’s been snowing there. i miss the cold weather and the attendant cancellations of classes, work, travel, etc. A ski trip to Tahoe is in the initial planning stags though, and they had 25 feet of white stuff in the last storm.
Channel4.com – IT Crowd
Not quite sure what the benefits for C4 are, but many thanks all the same. Channel Four are streaming episodes of new Graham Lineham comedy The IT Crowd. And it’s got Chris Morris in it. It’s a cross between Father Ted, Black Books and The Office and is rather good. Click the link for the download page. Righty, I’m off to see Satanico fight Loco Max. On my own… cheers

On the photo tour, Eliazar told me a new (to me) Spanish phrase: “Dependiendo del sapo, así es la pedrada“. The stone you throw depends on the size of toad. I’m not confident enough to use this phrase yet, but I think it means something like you have scale what you’re using to the problem you’re facing. There’s no point in throwing a small stone at a large toad, nor a huge stone at a tiny toad… Maybe…?
If anyone reading can give an example, I’d be glad to see it commented. Even the usually excellent WordReference.com draws a blank on this one… A search for sapo gets you:
sapo m Zool toad ♦ LOC: fam (despotricar) echar sapos y culebras, to curse and swear:
Which is another one I’d not heard, “To throw toads and snakes”, to curse and swear… or better still, “effing and blinding”.
Yesterday after Tonalá, dining, decorating and skyping the world we were going to have our subjunctive class, however we ended up watching about a dozen+ back-to-back episodes of Bones on DVD. Strangely apt after driving past the new (¿?) Jaliscan Forensic Science Building on Lazaro Cardenas. CSI Guanatos indeed… Now there’s a series I’d like to watch…
Some of yesterday’s purchases… a metal agave thing, DVD shelf, and shining star things.
Or somesuch, let’s see if a) this link works and b) you can read it…
Didn’t work, so… click here and shove this site’s address in the box:

Hey kathy- you mean something that doesn’t involve mad-scientist-type cross-facial experiments? you may be right…
