doesn’t mean I can’t post a link or four.

I’ve a suspicion, these are a viral attempt to sell more postits. “Office prank”
Shakira’s on Jay Leno’s pig of a show singing her little heart out on YouTube. It’s a new song from the latest adaption of Love in the time of Cholera, which I’ll go and see because it combines my two favourite Colombians, though I wasn’t blown away by the book. Not the best quality clip, but augers very well.
And finally, this one’s for you Sita and Cousin F (though you’ve prob’ly seen it already): Tom Cruise interview on his misguided beliefs
So it seemed to be about time to organise another Guadalajara Photo Tour. I’ve alerted various forums and my flickr contacts, and here’s hoping it all goes well. Instead of setting a time and date, I’ve put up a poll to choose, if you’re in the area feel free to vote on a combination that suits you here. If you’re not in the area then please don’t vote, so those who can make it get a say in when they can come. It was good fun last time and no mistake, a cantina usually features in it somewhere and the rest is wandering around in the sun and chatting about apertures and suchlike with likeminded peeps…
Last time we got photos published in various blogs, which was nice and it was grand to meet up with a few of the other Flickeros.
**Cack-handed tech alert**: Any readers know how to embed database driven data into Drupal pages? I’m having an in-at-the-deep-end go at getting a listings site up and running and it’s all new to me. Still trying to find some PHP classes… have an eyeful here of my noodlings… login: test, pword: password none too impressive for the minute, I’ll grant you…
This is Herman Dune, they were the support band at last night’s Jolie Holland gig. Right now I’m going through the pics from the concert and editing some from our jaunt out to Peter Kerr island this afternoon. Brilliant place, it is. Plenty of colour, the (unrealised) possibility of bald eagle spotting and Atticus even got a wander around off his lead.
…that we´re leaving at the end of October. That´s basically 8 weeks away, a veritable bummer. Still, absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that. Anyone interested in renting a very nice house, in sleepy Colonia Ladrón de Guevara? We´ll be back. Oh yes. I´m going to subscribe to Orbitz´s price alerts and any time a return flight from Oakland, California dips below a hundred bucks each way I´m coming back for tacos al pastor and a Pueblo Viejo…
Lots going on this week… meetings galore, restauranting tonight with one of Sita´s dissertation advisors, Wednesday possibly the cinema- 2 x 1 night, Paris Je T´aime, Thursday catching up with Aldo who´s back from Brazil, Friday not sure, and Saturday it´s the 4th annual Pocilgafest, invite only… If today´s cheque clears okay, I´ll also be booking myself in for as much dentistry as me teeth can handle before crossing the border back to the land of perfect smiles…
Have a video from the ´tube of one of me favourite bands, Black Box Recorder. All these years and I´d never seen one of their videos. I´ve made up for that now.
Also, new bits on me blog: A link to google translate which is probably going away very soon since it can’t handle me English. Also, below my recently commented photos there’s links to photos I’ve commented on. All very exciting I’m sure you’ll agree. That’s all for now. Cheers!
We’re 100 km from the border in Santa Anna and today we’re crossing over. The trip’s been fine so far, but very wet, including one section where I reckon we hit the tail end of tropical storm Eliana. Also, every fitozoological/military stop point has pulled us over for a hand search of our car which doesn’t bode well for crossing the frontera in record time. Maybe it’s time for a hair cut…
Well, at least I’ve never been more prepared for a system breakdown than this time. Files backed up, settings, a handwritten list of programs to install… And (THANK YOU ANA!) a replacement computer lined up to boot. I really shouldn’t complain… I even remembered to backup my firefox saved password files. I’m probably going to invest in a decent amount of RAM for this computer though so it doesn’t get tied up during webdesignery. I’ll also have to find a USB lead to transfer my pix from now on.
Anyroad, now we’re off to the beach, Chacala it’s called. We’ve rented a house with a swimming pool for the weekend for the 7 of us (Set, Amy and Angeles are in tow also). And it’s allegedly only 4 hours away on toll roads. We’ve been wrong before though. Should be good.
Anyroad, thanks for your patience while posting’s been slow.
