With remote control. Available to pick up on Dec 2nd.
I’ve been working since 8:30 this morning, and things keep piling up. It’s 5.45 i’m still at work and have tons to do. Hope the dog’s not being too loud in the back garden, he gets well narky if he hasn’t dragged us on a walk. I’m going to have to finish this at home… Just had to vent somewhere.
The Skype me button on the right… Very soon we’ll be in Mexico and at TelMex’s mercy once again, so download Skype by pressing that ‘call me’ button and give us a ring on the computer… Tanya…
Also, I’m working on some interwebbery for a local nutritionist- have a gander at the design, the brief for which was “lush and green”. Am quite chuffed with the look, but it’s preliminary draft.
Sita’s (and thus technically ‘our’) little doggy’s been poorly for the last few days. Sita noticed a golfball-sized lump on the side of his neck. He’s such a furry little bugger it was hard to see it. So we took him to the vets and they immediately shaved the lump and put him under to sort it all out. He did alright in the operation, but they’re not sure what it was so we’re waiting on the results of the biopsy. Hopefully it’s some kind of cyst that will go away with meds. The hollow lump’s still there but they put a tube in so the last of the fluids can drain out. It looks revolting, like a bone’s sticking out or something and the fluid’s none too pleasant neither. They’ll be taking the tube out on tomorrow afternoon and in the meantime he has to have lots of hot compresses and antibiotics (wrapped in gourmet ham). He’s also got to wear one of those nirvana video style lamp shade things which he carries off with a certain quiet dignity. Bless him. Pains me to say it but I might end up missing little Asparagus when we leave…
Tanya had us round last night and cooked fancy vegetarian fare plucked straight from the organic farmers market. T’was lovely. We played a bit of Scategories until it got too heated (it may be worth paying someone to independantly referree these games) and then moved on to Scrabble (where the rules are more easy to arbitrate). I had a bit of dizziness (I’m coming off some meds myself and the booze probably didn’t help) and we abandoned that and went home.
Today’s been productive too. Walked the space dog. Did more translation/web work on the Triangle Speakers website. Went to Brasil for breakfast (the restaurant, natch) and for this evening, maybe a film. I’d like to start reviewing stuff again for the site, the last one I did was Mala Educacion back in Feb and I’m slacking off. Now I have acres of free time ahead it’s going to be fun all the way. I’m probably going to buy a fancy laptop any day now and start work on a website for my freelancing in Mexico stuff too.
Eeh well, back to the warm compresses and bumpy doggy. More soon, as per usual…
The Zummerzet County Gazette, Taunton’s local rag is shoving the occasional video up on its website. Deathly dull each one, but 10 out of 10 for effort. So the this year’s Pullitzer for investigative journalism seems assured for “Are children watching too much TV?”…
In other news, Flickr PhotoTour #3 is in the planning stages. I’m not organising this one, I put up a poll to help Laura who’s in charge. Tlaquepaque’s looking like the favourite right now. It’s a shame, but the more imaginative suggestions were vetoed because they’ll look better after the rainy season (probably October at this rate…). Still Tlaquepaque’s got lots to offer photographically so it’s all good.
I’ve not posted since Saturday so here’s a summary: Saturday morning I walked to the Tianguis Cultural trying to find T-shirt printing shops on the way to no avail, took a few photos along the way:
Then in the afternoon went to see Spiderman III with Sita which is an overlong mess of a film, see the review here. After that, barbecued arrachera and Jose came round, then later Fernando, Ana and their dog, Tuna, whom Atticus tried to have his wicked way with. Makes a change from Jose’s leg…
Sunday, tranquilo, shopping, interwebbery, and checking out a new dvd rental place, Sala B, nearby which has a fine selection of films and no website. Yet… Grabbed An Inconvenient Truth (also reviewed) and Sita went for the truly, truly DIRE Sex and the City Season 4. One of these days I’ll publish a rant against that particular crime against good telly.
Monday, shopping for books, groceries, this that and t’other then making pizza from scratch and heading out to the airport for M and Sunny D’s triumphant return.
Today is still unfolding… websites, translations… stuff…
Out of interest does anyone reading have a Canon Rebel XTi, and if so, what’s the standard 18-55 lense like? I’m researching my next digital SLR camera purchase…
but it’s ironic (in an Alanis Morisette (sp?) kinda way) how I only have time to update this blog when I’ve been doing nothing, but then a week like this comes along and you get 0 posts despite there being so much news I don’t know where to start.
I’m off to bed…
