\nOur brains are programmed to look for patterns, and a large part of our brain deals specifically with faces, expressions and body language. Being able to visually decipher what another human is up to brings all kinds of social advantages in the natural selection game. Pylons blatently have personalities if you stare at them long enough.<\/p>\n

They also remind me of etch-a-sketch drawings, with all their vectors. I reckon a suitably challenging project for a first year computer studies student stuck for ideas would be a program that added pylons to any landscape you uploaded.
