V. fun night out with Sita, Sudurat and Tanya last night. Mobo sushi, bookshop Santa Cruz, Red, all culminating in trying to stay awake and watch The Aviator. The first 25 minutes? 2.5 Lulus, then I passed out. Sita gives the whole thing 4 Klems- “Solid entertainment”
Thanks Mr. Jesse Barba for the phone call this afternoon, tidy to catch up like, mush.
Temporary Retirement ROCKS! as they say round here… It’s, like, ARE-SUM! BRING IT ARN! YAY!!!
about the distinct lack of blogging of late, the blame lies with www.viveajijic.com now with less lorem ipsum and more English… Click on the pinche US of A’s flag for a preliminary English translation of the jewel of Lake Chapala’s premier events listing service… I’m chuffed with the guestbook and gallery. I’m also planning on having javascript see what language settings your computer has and sending you to the appropriate page. I’d really appreciate it if you could comment whether the photo gallery page works since I’ve had problems with simple viewer and cross browser compatibility before now. There should be 30 or so photos popping up to click on. Thanks in advance 😀
Coming soon to these agave/paint/bunny-filled pages, reviews of: Spanish film: Crimen Ferpecto (The Ferpect Crime), United 93 (Truly distressing ‘entertainment’), and if tonight goes as planned, ‘Good Bye and Good Luck’ which has only just come out in Mexico. Also a bit more info on Pocilga Fest 2006 from last Sat.
Lastly, I’m well happy with a new Flickr toy that “Hockneyizes” your photos. Here’re a couple:
Also considering a jaunt back to the UK in early December, anyone around then?
I’m in the process of wiping my hard drive and starting again from scratch. Not fun. Presently in the planning stages, listing all the CDs and downloads I have to find to reinstall my programs, from essentials, like XP, Office, Firefox, etc to when-i-get-the chance programs like Google Earth and Audacity. Then there’s all the photos, videos, mp3s, drivers, translations, extensions, websites, you name it, to back up to an external hard drive…
The computer’s shutting down with alarming frequency, and though the heat is definitely a factor, this reinstall needs to be done. I took it apart and the fans and vents are all clean, but something’s amiss. If this nuclear option doesn’t sort it out I’ll not be best pleased…
After a hard days painting again, it was nice to see Kev’s photos from Ashton Court. The two photos linked here and here show a game I vaguely remember participating in (instigating?) that involved head butting each other at waist height. I’m sure I won, but it’s all a little hazy. I love festivals, me. Round two at Beth’n’Ali’s, Stu?
I won’t write too much about the interview, ‘cos there’s a good chance I’ll be googled and they’ll find this post if it went well enough. On Facebook I put in my status that I was wondering what to wear and received sartorial advice ranging from optimal tie patterns to clingfilm with strategically placed Sarah Palin stickers. I then announced I was going to wear my Ghostbusters T-shirt and got these words of encouragement…
Alan: Best of luck, Gwyn.
Stuart F: Who they gonna call?
Joop: Did someone give you the questions?
Paul: dont get slimed
Alina: You gonna be a ghostbuster and all?
Emma: definatley the best choice of attire for, well, any occassion. be sure to mention in the interview that you “aint afraid of no ghost” in your best english accent
Annelise: Good Luck!
Ricardo: Are they going to ask you to take the TOEFL?
Facebook is often a lot of fun…
Other news. DrSita’s in North Carolina right now. Apparently in the airport there’s a mexican restaurant called La Tequileria or somesuch. News of her adventures soon…
Cut and paste: agaveweb.com/tequila to see a site in progress for some mates of mine in Guadalajara and their new language school.
I’m starting a new photoblog just for my Through the Viewfinder photos. I’m at the design stage right now. Because of the number of strange looks I get when I’m wielding my dual camera contraption and the occasional person asking me what it is, I’m thinking it’d be handy to have a business card with the site on it so they can see (buy??) the photos and learn more about the technique. Might take a while though, but I want to get something up because the other day I won 1000 free business cards and I need a domain for it. Any suggestions for a domain name? IsThatAPeriscope.com …
Last night Sita and I dined in Pierrot (Justo Sierra 2355) which was billed as a French restaurant, and I have to say the food there is fantastic. It nudges out El Sacromonte of my top 3 Guadalajara restaurants (La Matera and La I Latina still stand). As per usual it was pretty much empty at 8 o’clockish because only gringos eat at that time on a Friday night. I saw a stack of reservations for 10 pm which is a more normal time to eat round these parts.
If you come to visit us in Gwod and we don’t take you there then you can rightly take offence…
Thank you very much, Sally and Martin, for sponsoring last night’s gluttony. Extremely appreciated, many thanks… [tags]Pierrot, restaurant, review, gluttony, steak, guadalajara, jalisco, mexico[/tags]
